time flies

have you ever felt like time is flying by so fast. well i have. it feels like i was starting grade 8 just yesterday and now im begining to write my final exams. its crazy how time flies. each year i say that the year is going to be long but with so much work the year goes  by so fast.
 
right now its finals and pretty soon it will be xmas and then new years

no more school

on Thursday the 10th of October Hyde park high held its annual valedictory. it was a great evening with most of the matrics attending, the evening went on with matric citations speeches from the head boy and head girl and our grade head. it was a tearful evening as us matrics were basically saying goodbye to the teachers. on Friday the 11th of October Hyde park had a matric breakfast where matrics eat breakfast with the teachers which was prepared by the grade 11 hospitality students. it was quite a good breakfast which had people wanting more.
I must say it was weird seeing the matrics sitting down eating with teachers. but after breakfast we all went around to each teacher personally to say goodbye.

NOW ITS TIME FOR MATRICS TO CRACK OPEN THOSE TEXTBOOKS AND LEARN FOR THE FINALS.

sorry i havent been putting up new posts, but i have been studying really hard for my exams.
i start finals on wednesday so i wont be posting for a few more weeks. i will try be writing if i can and i will write in december.

Finishing syllabus

Have you ever been at school and not really needed to be there. Well I have, today I spent most of the day in classes doing absolutely nothing. It's gotten to that time of year when all subjects are finishing the syllabus so now it's just revision or the teachers don't need us anymore. The only real lesson I had today was science, which we didn't do proper work only revising stuff. This will be going on for probably about the next week if we choose to go to school.

so hyde park high school goes back tomorrow, from a weeks holiday. we have basically 2 weeks then off on study leave probably. i was thinking this year has gone by so fast, i was shocked when i found out valedictory is next week thursday.

Matric carnival

On Thursday the 19th of August, Hyde park high held their annual matric carnival, where matrics get into groups and set up a stall and sell goods or services to raise money to buy the school a parting present from the matrics. The matrics sell foods and sweets, some wash cars and others hold activities.
We hold it during the assembly and at break.
It was fun and we all made a profit.

so prelims are up today, back to school on Monday for two weeks then on study break again.  matrics, this is only an introduction to finals. there's only a few more weeks, with the matric carnival and everything but the finals aren't that far away.

so sorry for the late entries. i have been super busy with prelims, but good news is i have three left so i should have a post up by next Wednesday, Friday the latest.

Prelims

so Hyde Park high school matriculants are starting prelims on monday. we are all rushing to get work done and handed in before we start writing prelims. the prelims are basically an introduction of the final exams so we are all stressed (well, maybe not some people)

Term 3

so Hyde Park High went back to school on Monday the 15th July for term 3. this term is going to be a hard term for matrics, what with prelims starting on 19th of August and all the work that needs to be covered for the prelims. We are going to have to sit down and have our noses in our books to get ready for the prelims. term 3 is also going to have a few projects, speeches and assignments. so its up to matric students to work hard. it is quite simple. WORK HARD OR FAIL MATRIC!!!

THE FIRST CAR YOU GET AS A MATRIC STUDENT.

when you finally get your drivers licence in matric. all you wanna do is drive. many people get a small car to start off with,which is the right thing to do as you can get used to a small car. then you have kids who want a big car to start off with, like the other day i heard a story that this girl was fighting with her dad because she wanted a fortuner as her first car and her dad said no. i mean come on why would you fight with your dad because he wont buy you the car you want (probably cause its REALLY expensive). rather start off small, get used to the car, then go bigger. i mean if you want to drive a bakkie, if your dad has one ask him if you can drive his sometimes. ITS COMMON SENSE!

ID DAY AT HYDE PARK

a couple of days ago (the 9th of may) hyde park high school had ID day. ID day is a day when all the pupils pay R5 and dress up in themed costumes. this year was superheroes and super villians and it was a great day. the costumes were awesome. here below are some of the costumes.

IS THE MATRIC CLASS OF 2013 REALLY READY FOR THE BIG WORLD AFTER SCHOOL?

the matric class of 2013 (well probably all of them really) say they have their future all figured out but do we really. after matric the main thing on peoples minds are going to be: where am i studying? who is going to the same university as me? what must i do? and they are all really good questions but there are more important things to worry about like getting a job to be able to pay for goods and services when your parents decide that you are old enough and can do it on your own. you would have to get a job and a car to go places. and most people want their own place they can call home so they can make up their own rules. it all sounds nice until you dream comes true, then you have bills to pay every month and you would have to do the grocery shoping instead of relying on mom to do it. it all gets easier when you get married, then you can share the responsibility and the monthly bills. but that is still a long way away for us. right now we have to focus on exams and school work to get us through matric. and then focus on how we will live.

HYDE PARK HIGH SCHOOL MATRIC DANCE

on the 4th  of may, Hyde Park high school held their annual Matric dance at the Indaba hotel. the theme was Casino Royale. with the Indaba hotel transformed into a flurry of  flashing lights, roulette tables and glitzy decor, Matrics got to partying full on. we all know: "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". the decorations were awesome, the food was good and most of all the dance floor was full for most of the night thanks to the DJ and even some of the teachers got up and danced. it definitely was a night to remember and it will be for long to come. as the school newsletter has read: "The annual Matric dance was held on the 4th May at the Indaba Hotel, with the theme of Casino Royale. The Matric group of 2013 were treated to a memorable evening, with many beautiful evening dresses and stylish suits to be seen. The dance floor was abuzz with happy faces and the event will no doubt be etched in their memories for years to come."
